February Meeting Recap

Hey songwriters,

If you didn’t make it to the Feb. 2 meeting, you missed a good one. Members showcased songs including all kinds of bridges, or no bridge, and explored when a song may need one and when it doesn’t. Pianist and songwriter Jessica Saenz (jessicasaenzmusic@yahoo.com) ended the meeting, and began the open stage, with a brilliant set of well-crafted, well-performed songs.

Next meeting: 7 p.m. March 1, Bloomfield Bridge Tavern, 412-682-8611 www.bloomfieldbridgetavern.com.

Featured performer: Meet Pittsburgh Songwriters Circle newcomer Caiden Droscha (cdroscha06@gmail.com).

Optional songwriting assignment: Write a waltz — a great suggestion by Howard Davidson (bachblue@aol.com). The musical structure of a song communicates unspoken nuances. What will telling your story in a waltz form suggest about your topic?
