February Meeting Recap

Hey songwriters,

Just a few songs were crafted to conform with this month’s optional songwriting assignment, but a full house filled the Songwriters Circle’s newly expanded seating area upstairs at Club Cafe. Curious songwriters continued venturing upstairs and getting on this mailing list, and some very cool songs were showcased at Calliope Songwriters Open Stage. Featured performer Rachel Whitcomb (whitcombrachel1@gmail.com) and accompanist played a wonderful set of her traditional country tunes and some standout covers.

At the group’s next meeting March 6, Jeffrey Frielander (jeffreyfriedlander117@gmail.com) will play the half-hour featured set, and the songwriting assignment will spotlight a Pittsburgher far more worthy of song than the subject of the February meeting. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the premier of the PBS staple “Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood,” write a song about or in the style of Fred Rogers.

See you soon,

– John
