Hey songwriters,
The hook is soft, it needs a bridge and you could never find a word that rhymes with “melodrama.” Now’s the time to dust off that uncompleted song and finally finish it as the optional songwriting assignment for the 7 p.m. Tue., Sept. 3 meeting of Pittsburgh Songwriters Circle at Bloomfield Bridge Tavern (4412 Liberty Ave., 412-682-8611). The featured performer is Nick Powers (yabaworld@live.com).

Michael Kelly Blanchard coming to Calvin
Singer/songwriter/author Michael Kelly Blanchard will return to Calvin Church for a writers’ workshop Thursday evening, September 5. The following evening, Friday, September 6, he will perform in concert at Harmony-Zelienople Methodist Church. Details will be announced soon for participant cost. The tentative starting time for both events is 7:00 p.m.

Friends of Penn Hills Coffeehouse
All of you coffeehouse fans might enjoy the upcoming Bluegrass In The Park event. Mark your calendars for Wednesday Sept 11th 7-9PM (jamming till 10PM) Universal Park, last pavilion on the left. The Kerr Church will sell refreshments and we have a beer permit, so you can BYOB. The Rotary Club will help sponsor. Those who came over the last two years keep asking me to repeat the event. Bring a lawn chair, the music is free.
