August Update

Hey songwriters,
The optional assignment for the 7 p.m. Aug. 6 meeting at Bloomfield Bridge Tavern is to incorporate a rap into a song. How you use staccato lyrics delivered in time with a beat is up to you, and it could include the whole song or part of it.
The featured performer is David Michael King (kingsomma@igc.org).

SummerSounds
The weather has more or less cooperated with Pittsburgh Songwriters Circle members doing the preshow sets at the free summer-long Greensburg music festival, and attendance has been as high as 2,500. The artist who designed the amphitheater’s backdrop has done impromptu caricatures of some of our members, sketched during their performances and presented privately following their sets — quite a bonus on top of payment for the gig (June performers have already been paid). It’s a good time; check out the shows before the festival wraps Aug. 30. Our people go on at 6:15 p.m. Directions and details at www.summersounds.com.
