May meeting recap

Hey songwriters,
Good songs, good people and lots of good conversation about songwriting.Tuesday’s meeting of Pittsburgh Songwriters Circle attracted three new members and some interesting songs that included elements that were new to the songwriter, as per the suggested songwriting assignment.
Karl Bailey (karl.f.bailey@verizon.net) always puts on a good show — his featured set featured original songs on guitar and keyboard and a unique interpretation of a classic John Prine song.
Meet Bryce O’Loughlin (bko376@gmail.com), a newcomer to the Songwriters Circle, when he fills the featured slot following the next meeting, 7 p.m. June 2 at Bloomfield Bridge Tavern.
The songwriting assignment: Explore the use of diminished chords. Learn stuff atwww.theguitarsuite.com/diminished-chords-on-guitar/.
Album project
Recording for the 11th annual Pittsburgh Songwriters Circle compilation album has begun at Electric Eye Recorders. The next deadline is June 5. By that date, participants must have a recording session scheduled with producer Mike Hickman (studio@fallguys.net). The session can occur later, but it has to be on Mike’s books by that date. The first-session deadline is intended to advance the project and protect Mike from a log jam of new sessions near the recording deadline.
Schedule your first recording session. Call Mike at 512-785-2132.
SummerSounds
For the fifth year, throughout the summer-long Greensburg SummerSounds music festival, all pre-show entertainment preceding the headliners will be performed exclusively by members of Pittsburgh Songwriters Circle. The promoter chooses the pre-show lineup by scouting at the group’s CD release show and listening to current and past Songwriters Circle albums. Learn more about SummerSounds atwww.summersounds.com, and try to make it out there this summer to support your Songwriters Circle colleagues.
