June Meeting Recap
Hey songwriters,
At this week’s meeting of Pittsburgh Songwriters Circle a few gender-reversed songs explored the opportunities that open when the sex of a song’s protagonist is flipped, and sisters Jessica Lanigan (jssdali@gmail.com) and Chelsea Ali (chelsea.ali8@gmail.com) showcased dark and intimate songs from their separate repertoires.
At the next meeting, Tue., July 6, Dave Graham (DavidBGraham@comcast.net) will play the featured set. The suggested assignment is to write a story song.
Every song tells a story, sort of. But rather than describing a moment or feeling, a good story song goes someplace — something changes or is revealed as the story unfolds. Some genres generate more story songs than others — think country and folk — but memorable stories can be told in any musical form.
