April Meeting Recap
Hey songwriters,
No one wrote a song about cake — probably for the better — but a lot of good songs were showcased at the April 5 meeting of Pittsburgh Songwriters Circle, and Northern Vibe (Kim McInnis, kim@immortalsong.com) played an outstanding set of well-structured and interesting songs.
For the May 3 meeting, put a new twist on one of your old songs. Give it a new rhythm, turn a folk song into a rocker, play a guitar tune on the piano, flip the gender and make it work — do something to substantively alter one of your existing songs. Stick around after the meeting for a featured set by Roulette Waves (Heather Donovan, roulettewaves.music@gmail.com)
Album project
The release date for “Pittsburgh Songwriters Circle: 2017 Collection” is Fri., Nov. 4 at a CD release event at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, Shadyside. Everyone interested in putting a song on the album has to submit the $100 duping and participation fee by April 29. Send to John Hayes, 101 Daggette Dr., Buena Vista, PA 15018 (or make other payment arrangements at 412-263-1991). If you’ve already paid the duping fee, your next deadline is June 3 when participants have to have scheduled a recording date. The session can be later, but it has to be on producer Mike Hickman’s books by that date. Contact Mike at 512-785-2132, studio@fallguys.net. Open this link for a complete schedule and project rules.
