MARCH 2020 NEWSLETTER

Hey songwriters,

Diverse new songs from comical to poignant were written when members of Pittsburgh Songwriters Circle cracked open the fortune cookies distributed last month in a novel songwriting assignment instigated by Paul and Janice Sproull (Paulsproull@yahoo.com).

For the April meeting, write a riff-based song. For details hop over to the Monthly Assignments page.

2021 CD project

At the Wednesday meeting the group launched its 16th annual album project. Electric Eye Recorders owner Mike Hickman (studio@fallguys.net), who has produced the project since 2015, answered questions and several promotional copies of last year’s CD were distributed. It was confirmed that member Debbi Pace (woodrose2007@verizon.net) will design the graphics, and Kansas-based Nuvidia will do the pressing and printing for the 15th consecutive year. Group manager John Hayes (johnhayes.johnhayes@gmail.com) will oversee the project. Date and location of the CD release event have not yet been determined.

Two separate fees are involved: A duping-participation fee of $100 is paid to John Hayes by May 29, 2020. Electric Eye offers a special Songwriters Circle group rate of $30 for each of the first three hours, $40 per hour for additional time, which is paid to Mike Hickman. Payment per session is preferred unless other arrangements have been made.

There are no additional fees but deadlines and other conditions are designed to advance the project and protect its partners. See the complete rules and mission statement at the 2021 CD Project page.
