MAY 2019 NEWSLETTER

Hey songwriters,

The group heard several very different ways to write a bass line into a song at the May meeting of Pittsburgh Songwriters Circle. It was another full house at Hambone’s, following a busy month when members played out at the Songwriters Circle featured set at Mr. Small’s Funhouse, a Pittsburgh Songwriters Circle showcase at The Barn, the Coffeehouse Stage at the Art All Night festival and the Pittsburgh Marathon as well as Hambone’s open stage.
The suggested songwriting assignment for the June 4 meeting is to write a key change into your song. We’ve done that before — this time use the key change at a point in the song when the storyline changes or gets more intense. Learn more about that on the Monthly Assignments page on this website.

CD project

If you plan to put a song on the 15th annual Songwriters Circle CD, don’t forget that the deadline for submitting your $100 duping-participation fee is May 31.

NOTE: To avoid repeating past complications, producer Mike Hickman will no longer accept duping fees. Mike will set an initial recording session only after the duping fee has been paid. Send checks or money orders to John Hayes, 101 Daggette Dr., Buena Vista, PA 15018.

Please read the complete project overview on this website at the 2020 CD Project page. Questions, problems, anything — please contact John at 412-335-1446, johnhayes.johnhayes@gmail.com, or Mike at 512-785-2132, studio@fallguys.net.
